2022 Scholarship Winners

2022 Scholarship Winners

The HBCU Alum Scholarship Committee is proud to announce its 2022 Book Scholarship Winners. There were so many deserving candidates, and made this year's selection the most difficult to date. Eight highly qualified and well-deserving individuals have been selected as recipients: Kaiden Drain, Lauren Forney, Liyah Tyner, Justin Banks, Jaidyn Sawyer, Mimi Harris, Shekinah Washington and Thurston Brown.

All candidate applications were evaluated on scholastic achievement, school / community involvement, and performance on a written essay based on the following topic: “The Importance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the 21st Century.”

Graduates of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School and Tennessee State University, Terrence Caldwell and Alex Shuler established their initial HBCU Book Scholarship in 2009. Its goal is to help encourage talented high school students to consider HBCU’s as a viable choice for higher education. The HBCU Alum Scholarship Committee congratulates these talented students and wish them best of luck in their HBCU journeys.
